Folks – I’ve been on a deodorant journey for years. I’ve used conventional deodorants (scary ingredients). I’ve used natural deodorants (at best, they didn’t work for me – and at worst, they turned my armpits black!). My armpits have been through an awful lot on the quest for a natural, high-quality, gentle-to-the-skin, cost-friendly deodorant solution that works.
Well, several years ago I found something that crosses off every item on that list. And I’m so excited to share the recipe with you! But before I do, I bet you’re probably wondering something.
Why Probiotic Deodorant?
You’re probably already aware of the positive effects of probiotics on your digestive system and your immune system. But did you know that research is emerging that shows that probiotics can help to improve the balance of bacteria on your skin (just like it does in your digestive system)?
Your skin is the largest organ in your body. It contains millions of beneficial bacteria. It also acts as a barrier between pathogens and your body. While conventional deodorant does its best to kill the “bad” bacteria (aka. the stuff that makes you stinky), it also knocks out the good bacteria on your skin. And when you get rid of the good bacteria, you’re left defenseless (and stinky – and the stinkier you are, the more deodorant you need – coincidence?).
